SOUTH WEST’S GREYHOUND RESCUERS ARE 150th CLIENT FOR THE REGION’S TOP ACCOUNTANTS FOR CHARITIES

Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE), which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes around 500 greyhounds each year, is the 150th charity to appoint the specialist charities & not-for-profit team at accountancy firm Bishop Fleming.

GRWE works closely with local councils, the police and dog-racing trainers to re-home retired racing dogs and rescue abandoned greyhounds, with kennelling facilities and re-homing officers working across the South West, North West and North Wales.

“Honorary friends” of the charity include Lady Betty Harvey-Jones, Lord Faringdon, Katie Boyle, Jilly Cooper, Annette Crosbie, and Victoria Stilwell of Channel 4‘s “It‘s Me Or The Dog”.

According to Joe Scaife, head of Bishop Fleming‘s charities and non-for-profit team:  “We are thrilled that our 150th charity client is one of the country‘s leading charitable successes, providing new homes for some 500 greyhounds and greyhound crosses each year.  GRWE has a seat on the UK Greyhound Forum and works with other animal welfare charities to ensure that it can provide a safe and secure future for as many greyhounds as possible.

“Our appointment resulted from our offer of free consultation, spanning all the issues facing charity trustees, from compliance with the new Charities Act to opportunities for tax savings, including VAT.”

Greyhound Rescue West of England‘s finance trustee, Vanessa Edwards, said:  “I had seen the input of the Bishop Fleming team to the ss Great Britain Trust, in which I am also involved, and recognised the potential benefit for GRWE”.
