SOUTH WEST LAWYERS OFFER SOLUTIONS TO THE REGION’S DEVELOPERS

South West developers and construction industry specialists will be gathering in Taunton to hear about the latest changes in legislation and Government guidance, and to learn ways of working with them to counter current market challenges.

Property, planning, and environmental specialists at one of the region‘s largest law firms, Clarke Willmott, will address issues and opportunities facing developers at a briefing event at the firm‘s South West Regional Office on Tuesday 14th October.

The event will address “tricks and tips” in negotiating and re-negotiating planning agreements with local planning authorities, and the likely impact of the proposed Community Infrastructure Levy which is intended to generate capital from developments to fund infrastructure provision.  It will also provide a review of legislative changes on climate change, sustainable homes and flooding, and will deliver an update on how the latest case law affects the industry.

Head of Clarke Willmott‘s South West Regional Office, Stuart Thorne, said:  “Throughout the UK, the development sector is facing major challenges due to the economic downturn, but there remain some very real opportunities to ride and even capitalize on that downturn.

“This event is geared to highlight those opportunities”, said Mr Thorne.
