THE CONSORTIUM STAFF TAKE UP THE GREEN TRAVEL CHALLENGE

Horse power, paddle power and pedal power came to the fore as staff at one of Trowbridge‘s biggest employers left their cars at home for a day.

Dozens of employees at The Consortium took part in Car Free Day, organised by the Environmental Transport Association, on Monday.

Several either walked or car shared with a colleague on their way to work, while one, Barney Greig, canoed in to his office from home in Bradford-on-Avon.

Another employee, Julia Betteridge, rode her horse Banjie into work, while logistics manager, Darren Liffen, cycled 37 miles to work from his home in Swindon.

Brian Potter, sales and marketing director at The Consortium, who travelled to work by train from Weston-super-Mare, said: “Our company takes its ‘green‘ responsibilities very seriously.

“Sustainability and the environment are at the forefront of everything we do as a business, and it was gratifying that so many of our staff responded in such a superb way to such a worthy initiative.”
