SOUTH WEST LAW FIRM WINS FOUR MORE SOCIAL HOUSING CLIENTS

Clarke Willmott confirms commitment to the region‘s housing crisis

One of the South West‘s largest law firms, with a commitment to tackling the region‘s housing crisis, has won four more social housing clients.

Clarke Willmott has been appointed as legal advisers to Devon & Cornwall Housing Group, the Radian Group, the Presentation Group, and the East Thames Group.

Together, these four social housing providers already manage more than 40,000 homes across the South, have 16,000 new homes under development, and are committed to building hundreds more social homes each year.

Identified as the South West‘s fourth largest law firm, Clarke Willmott has a dedicated social housing team of lawyers - providing land, planning, property, employment, and corporate services – advising social housing providers and private housing developers.

According to Stuart Thorne, head partner at Clarke Willmott‘s South West regional office:  “The South West has Britain‘s biggest housing crisis, with the largest affordability gap between average house-prices and average earnings, and the biggest delivery gap between demand for new homes and supply by developers.

“In the current property market downturn, social housing providers are crucial in sustaining the provision of new homes to accommodate this region‘s key workers – in both public and private sectors”, said Mr Thorne.

Clarke Willmott, which was a founding member of the South West Housing Initiative – dedicated to tackling the region‘s housing crisis - will provide the new social housing clients with services spanning land assembly, acquisitions, landlord and property services, and advice on corporate and employment issues.
