King Sturge‘s Bristol office to advise Thomas Cook on its UK property portfolio
Commercial real estate specialists in Bristol have been chosen by the world‘s oldest travel company, Thomas Cook, to handle a national portfolio of 812 locations throughout the UK and Ireland.
King Sturge, the largest firm of international property consultants in the South West, has been appointed by Thomas Cook to advise on all aspects of the travel company‘s network of high-street premises.
That service will include advice on leases, property management, and building consultancy.
King Sturge won the contract in a national competitive process, having recently acquired the business of Leslie Furness, which had been the property adviser to Thomas Cook for the past nine years.
According to Tom Keys-Toyer, a Bristol-based King Sturge partner in the firm‘s national team for Thomas Cook: “Alongside our new colleagues from Leslie Furness, we are able to deliver a full range of services throughout the UK.
“We shall be advising Thomas Cook on all aspects of managing their portfolio of properties, which includes 138 sub-let locations”, he added.
Mike Henry, partner in charge of the Corporate Real Estate team at King Sturge in Bristol, said: “This new contract underlines our experience and capabilities in handling major multi-site property commissions throughout the entire UK, and is a major addition to our national client portfolio, which includes Bank of Ireland, Britannia Building Society, Natuzzi, Philips, and the Land Registry”.
Head of Estates at Thomas Cook, Andrew Potter, said: “Following an in-depth review of potential service providers, we have awarded our contract to King Sturge as we believe that they offer the right balance of expertise and coverage, to assist us with the efficient management of our property estate”.
ENDS 13th March 2008
