Bishop Fleming

SOUTH WEST ACCOUNTANTS TOP THE LEAGUE FOR CHARITY EXPERTISE

Latest exam successes confirm Bishop Fleming, the accountancy firm with the widest spread of offices throughout the South West, as a national leader in expertise for charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Three of the firm‘s senior staff have joined a national list of just 55 private-practice accountants to achieve the ICAEW‘s Diploma in Charity Accounting, with more lined up to take the examination.

With a team of 20 staff focused on the specialist needs of more than 140 charity and not-for-profit clients, Bishop Fleming is already among the UK‘s top 25 accountancy firms for charity organisations.

Head of Bishop Fleming‘s specialist charity team, Joe Scaife, was among the first people in the UK to qualify.  He has now been joined by two colleagues – Pam Tuckett (partner) and Mark Birchenough (manager).

According to Mr Scaife:  “Another two of our team members are already due to sit the diploma exams, with plans for at least three more to join them.

“It has always been the case that charities and not-for-profit organisations need special expertise.  The recent Charities Act has added to this requirement for specialist knowledge”, said Mr Scaife.

Bishop Fleming‘s charity and not-for-profit team in the South West consists of four partners, ten managers, and six qualified staff spanning the firm‘s offices in Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, and Truro.

The firm‘s charity and not-for-profit clients include:

  • SS Great Britain
  • Bristol Dogs Home
  • Bristol Cathedral
  • South West Screen
  • West of England Aerospace Forum
  • Taste of the West
  • South West Tourism
