SOUTH WEST ACCOUNTANTS BACK REGIONAL CHARITY FUND-FINDING EVENT

Bishop Fleming sponsors “meet the funders” event in Devon

Charities and not-for-profit organisations in Devon are being invited to meet funding providers.

Bishop Fleming, the accountancy firm with the widest spread of offices throughout the South West, and one of the UK‘s top 25 specialist advisers to charities, is backing the event at Newton Abbot racecourse on 4th March.

Organised by Teignbridge District Council, Teignbridge‘s Council for

Voluntary Service, and Richard Younger Ross MP, the event will include presentations from the Big Lottery Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund, and BBC Children in Need.

According to Pam Tuckett, a partner in Bishop Fleming‘s charity and not-for-profit team:  “2008 will be a challenging year for every charity fund-raiser.  Alongside the demands of new legislation, most charities are confronting the threat of reduced funds from public donation, at a time of economic uncertainty, and the diversion of national funds to fuel the massive demands of the 2012 Olympics.

“The ‘meet the funders‘ event in March provides South West charities with a unique opportunity to set out their stall”, said Ms. Tuckett.

During the day-long event, Bishop Fleming staff will provide a VAT surgery, giving attendees the opportunity to ‘ask the expert‘ for advice on the special VAT issues for charities.  The firm will also stage a workshop on the operational issues currently facing the charity and not-for-profit sector, based on the findings of a recent Bishop Fleming survey of charity clients.
