INTEGRAL SUPPORTS LOCAL APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME IN NOTTINGHAM

Integral, the UK‘s largest independently owned property maintenance provider, is taking part in a ‘Breakthrough Apprenticeship‘ project for young people in Nottingham.

The Breakthrough Apprenticeship is part of a Social Awareness Youth Enterprise Scheme being run in Bulwell and has been has been developed to actively engage local youngsters and combat problems of anti-social behaviour in the local community.

The scheme offers young people who show enthusiasm, commitment and enterprise, short term placements with local businesses.

Integral was so impressed with the scheme and its participants, that it has offered two extended placements, with the ultimate opportunity of securing a permanent job with the company.

The two successful applicants are Reece Sweeney who is working with Integral‘s team at the Victoria Shopping Centre in Nottingham and Ashley Leighton who will be working with Integral staff on a contract providing building maintenance services to Experian, also in Nottingham.

Managing Director Bryan Glastonbury comments: “Apprenticeships are an effective way to encourage young people to develop skills and career prospects that might not have otherwise been open to them.

“This scheme actively and successfully engages local young people, offering them an opportunity to make a difference to their community.  As a local employer we are keen to support this project, giving young people real chances and opportunities to build meaningful lives.”

The company has adopted a nationwide policy of working closely with local schools and colleges to encourage interest in property maintenance as a career choice and has over 90 apprentices and trainees based in its 15 regional offices.

“We offer on the job and college based training and trainees work closely with our experienced and skilled staff, building their confidence and knowledge.  We have found it to be a very successful way to recruit young people who become valued members of staff,” adds Bryan Glastonbury.
