RECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR DELOITTE’S BRISTOL DEALS TEAM

Deloitte‘s corporate finance team in Bristol is celebrating a record-breaking year which saw a total of 14 deals completed - with a combined value in excess of £600 million.

The team, headed by partner Martyn Gregory, advised on a string of high-profile deals across the South West and South Wales, including the £60 million sale by Devon County Council of Exeter Airport to a consortium including Balfour Beatty and London City Airport, and the £52 million acquisition of Cowlin Construction, also by Balfour Beatty.

The other deals completed by the firm in 2007 were:

  • the £75 million refinancing of The Cheese Company
  • the MBO at Bottle Green Drinks Company, based near Stroud in Gloucestershire
  • the £100 million-plus sale of Cheltenham-based Pegasus Retirement Homes to the equity ventures arm of RBS
  • the MBO of The Business Mortgage Company, based in Cardiff
  • the £37.5 million acquisition of Lightbody Cakes by Cardiff-based cake and bread maker, Finsbury Foods
  • Finsbury‘s acquisition of Anthony Alan Foods
  • the £67 million MBO at Penn Pharmaceutical Services, based in Tredegar
  • the £48 million MBO of mobile bridging company WFEL, based in Stockport
  • the MBO of Harris Pye, a Barry-based specialist in the repair of marine and industrial boilers
  • the MBI of Lonco Retail Services in Essex, which provides maintenance services to supermarket groups, which was bought by Cardiff-based Hodge & Co.
  • the £1.3 million acquisition by Findel of education supplies company Philip and Tacey, based in Andover

“This has been a phenomenal year for Deloitte‘s corporate finance team in Bristol,” said Martyn Gregory.

“We have completed 14 deals within 12 months, which is a record for my  team. Despite all the speculation about the state of the credit markets, I believe that the flow of deals, particularly for middle market, corporate-to-corporate deals, is set to continue into the New Year.”
