INTEGRAL WINS £1.6M CONTRACT FOR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR WALES

Integral, the UK‘s biggest independent supplier of building maintenance services has won a £1.6million contract to provide building maintenance services to the National Assembly for Wales.

The contract includes the award winning Senedd, the home of the Welsh Assembly Government, designed by Richard Rogers and built by Taylor Woodrow.

The building is a flagship for sustainability, renewable resources and utilities.  Natural ventilation, ground heat earth exchangers and a biomass heating boiler provide an environmentally friendly working environment for the Assembly Members, staff and visitors.

A key environmental feature is the funnel in the debating chamber which turns down from the roof.  On top of the funnel is a rotating roof cowl, the largest in the UK, which rotates in the wind ventilating the debating chamber.

Steve Collins Integral‘s Regional Director says: “This is both a prestigious and interesting contract as more and more Government departments and businesses look to reduce their carbon footprint.

“We will be delivering high quality and timely facilities management services to the Assembly Parliamentary Services, and working to reduce costs and develop more energy saving initiatives to complement the Senedd building ideas.”

Integral will provide M&E and fabric PPM and reactive works, window cleaning, pest control and waste disposal services, design and project management.

Integral employs more than 2,400 people through 15 regional offices and offers customers 24 hour 365 day cover a year anywhere on the UK mainland.

The company has a mobile maintenance fleet of more than 1,000 low-carbon vehicles, and will manage the contract from its Cardiff office.

ENDS             24th October 2007
