BUSINESS STUDENT BOOSTS HER CAREER PROSPECTS WITH MOMENTUM CORPORATE FINANCE

Bath University student Philippa Wheeler is considering a career in the traditionally male-dominated world of corporate finance after securing a six-month work placement with Bristol-based Momentum.

Philippa, aged 20, who is part-way through a four-year BSc (Hons) degree in business administration, is working as part of the Momentum Corporate Finance team at its offices in King Street, involved in everything from research projects to arranging client meetings.

“I enjoy the intimacy of working in a close team and having the opportunity to work at Momentum Corporate Finance and play a part in its development, is a fantastic opportunity for me,” says Philippa.

“Corporate finance has traditionally been perceived as a male preserve, but working at Momentum has only encouraged me to think more seriously about pursuing it as a career.”

Just over a year after being launched as a specialist adviser for Management Buy-Outs (MBOs) and company sales by partners Tony Kenny and Rob Crews, Momentum Corporate Finance is already equal in size to the corporate finance teams of the “Big Four” accountancy firms in the region.

The firm has advised on several major deals in the region, including the £40 million refinancing of Integral Services Ltd., the UK‘s largest independent outsourcing company for facilities and property management, and the MBO at magazine publisher Origin Publishing.
