ACCOUNTANTS WITH BIGGEST SPREAD OF SOUTH WEST OFFICES CELEBRATES 21ST BIRTHDAY IN BRISTOL

Bishop Fleming, the accountancy firm with most offices throughout the South West, is celebrating the 21st birthday of its arrival in Bristol.

Founded in Devon 90 years ago, Bishop Fleming opened and expanded its Bristol office with the acquisitions of three local accountancy firms, Roberts Gordon Wise, Brewer & Co, and B.D.Brown.

Bishop Fleming‘s first Bristol office (in 1989) was in Christmas Steps, with one partner and eight staff:  two years later they moved to Portland Square.  In 2005, the firm moved to Queen Square, where they now have five partners and 31 staff – and a turnover of £2.5 million.

Now the largest independent accountancy firm in Bristol, Bishop Fleming has the widest spread of offices throughout the South West, including Exeter, Gloucester, Bath, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Torquay, and Truro.  The firm has 18 partners, 200 staff, and a turnover of £11 million.

The firm‘s Managing Partner is Bristol-based Matthew Lee.  He said:  “In recent years, our firm‘s centre of gravity has been moving towards Bristol, where we now have regional leaders in corporate finance, business recovery, wealth management, and VAT.

“We are now planning the opening of a new office in Cardiff”, said Mr Lee.
