About 40 members of staff at the Bristol office of international property consultants King Sturge took part in Sunday‘s half marathon through the city‘s streets raising £5,000 for charity.
This year the firm is celebrating its 250th anniversary and, as well as the Bristol Half Marathon, staff have been taking part in a range of fund-raising activities, including a sponsored motorcycle ride and a bicycle relay challenge.
Jeremy Richards, partner in charge of King Sturge‘s Bristol office, said: “As part of national celebrations to mark the firm‘s 250th anniversary we decided that here in Bristol we would set ourselves a target of raising £25,000 for charity.
“At first that total seemed daunting, but I‘m delighted to report that here we are in September and we have already surpassed that target and have just gone past the £30,000 mark.”
He added: “Many thanks for the efforts of all the King Sturge staff who took part and to all the people and organisations who sponsored them, including Estates Gazette who sponsored our running shirts.”
Nationally King Sturge hopes to raise £250,000 for good causes as part of their celebrations to mark the 250th anniversary.
Nationally, the two charities nominated to benefit from the firm‘s fund-raising activities are the Children‘s Trust and male cancer charity Orchid, and the local beneficiary is the Kingsweston School in Bristol for children with learning difficulties.
Ends 7th September 2010
