SOUTH WEST LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS TO BACK ARCTIC EXPLORER’S GLOBAL CLIMATE-CHANGE INITIATIVE

Ashfords and Bishop Fleming are the first to sign-up for Education Through Expeditions

South West based law firm, Ashfords, and one of the region‘s largest accountancy firms, Bishop Fleming, have joined forces as launch sponsors for a global climate-change educational initiative created by Devon-based Arctic explorer, Antony Jinman.

Education Through Expeditions (ETE) is a new community interest company, set up by the professional explorer to provide educators, and their students, with real-time access to high-tech distance learning resources for climate change indicators throughout the world.

The hub of these new resources will be an interactive world map website, providing direct access to current expeditions and research projects around the planet.

According to award winning Arctic explorer, Antony Jinman:  “Teachers and students visiting the web-map will tap straight into what‘s happening for explorers and researchers operating in every part of the world.  This will include the ability to have direct dialogue with those explorers, as well as viewing their blogs, audio and video recordings, and photographs”.

Specialist teams from Ashfords and Bishop Fleming have already helped Mr Jinman to establish ETE as a community interest company, and will now provide a range of professional services to support its development.

Chief Executive at Bishop Fleming, Jerry O‘Sullivan, added:  “Unlike books and other classroom tools, the ETE World Web-Map will remain up-to-the-moment, reflecting and revealing environmental change as it occurs all around the globe.  This region can take pride in such a world-leading initiative”.

Ashfords Partner, George Wilkinson, said: "We are pleased and proud to support Antony in everything that he does.  His education programme has proved a storming success, earning him a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust medallion, and a nomination for the University of Plymouth‘s Social Entrepreneur Award.

“We watched his latest expedition to the North Pole closely and wish him every success in the future”, Mr Wilkinson added.

One of ETE‘s featured explorers is Ed Stafford, who is walking the entire length of the Amazon River through South America.  He started his trek in April 2008, and expects to finish next month (August 2010).    END
