BISHOP FLEMING BACKS UNIVERSITY’S SMALL BUSINESS FORUM

Accountancy firm provides key personnel for workshops and conferences

Top 50 accountancy firm Bishop Fleming, is backing an initiative by the University of the West of England to bring together experts dedicated to helping family businesses share good practice, knowledge, skills and expertise.

It has joined the Bristol Family Business Community, part of the university‘s Bristol Business School initiative and will provide key personnel to deliver live case clinics as well as participate in workshops and other events aimed at local family businesses.

Bishop Fleming partner Alex Robins said: “We are wholly focused on serving the South West‘s owner-managed businesses and so we were delighted to have been invited to join this initiative.”

Bishop Fleming senior tax manager Catharine Lynn was recently with third year enterprise students at the Business School to present her own case study, the first in a new series entitled ‘Images of Creativity‘ which is focused  on the importance of   creativity  to enterprise, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The South West accountancy firm, which has the region‘s widest spread of offices, is also planning other help including participation on a panel of experts at a one-day family business growth conference on buying and selling businesses in the spring.
Dr Lorna Collins, principal lecturer in Strategy (Enterprise and Creativity) at Bristol Business School, said: “Our aim is to develop relationships with expert specialist professional advisers for the Community. With so many family businesses operating in the South West we know that it will go from strength to strength.”
