David Sturgess
Managing Director
Having trained as a journalist in newspapers and radio, David joined the PR team on Concorde before setting up BT‘s Press & Broadcast operation for the South West. Prior to founding SVD in 1995, he was MD of the Leedex PR consultancy network, with offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Brussels, Cardiff, London, and Manchester. He is the strategic adviser to all SVD clients.
Louie Hadley
Director
A business journalist who has worked in both the regional and national press, Louie made the transition to PR when he joined North Somerset Council‘s Marketing and Communications team. After turning the local authority‘s flagship publication into an award winning magazine he joined Sturgess Van Damme in 2008, working across the consultancy‘s portfolio of professional services and corporate clients.
Christian Annesley
Senior Consultant
Former News Editor of Computer Weekly, where he won an award for campaigning on the NHS National Programme for IT, Christian is widely known as the founding Editor of South West Business Insider. In addition to producing this region‘s foremost monthly business magazine and daily e-bulletin for the past four years, he has also chaired more than 100 business events throughout the South West.

Peter Phillips
Senior Consultant
Having begun his career as a journalist, Peter has become a well-known specialist in the global aviation and transport sector, and the fast-changing online and digital media for that sector. He has held senior roles at Schiphol Airport, Brisbane Airport, Cardiff International Airport, and the European Regional Airlines Association. Having joined SVD in 2009, Peter provides strategic and operational input to our aviation and transport clients.
James Harper
Senior Consultant
As Head of Communications for the South West RDA for the past decade, James led the organisation‘s corporate communications function - including award-winning media relations activity – as well as helping to devise and deliver a number of organisational development programmes. A qualified journalist, James‘ role at the RDA ensured that he has unrivalled knowledge of this region‘s news media, business issues, and connectivity with Government.
Neil Fraser
Senior Consultant
After working as a qualified journalist at the Plymouth Evening Herald and Bristol Evening Post, Neil spent five years as Senior Editorial Consultant at Strategy PR and Harrison Cowley PR. Neil joined SVD in 2005, and works with David Sturgess and Louie Hadley in planning and delivering editorial programmes for all SVD clients.

Company Secretary
A US citizen, Caroline oversees SVD‘s administration, IT systems, and finances.
