Objective: Create a national news platform for CAM, emphasising its understanding of, and relationship with, small and medium-sized businesses and their owners.

SVD Solution: Negotiate and deliver a quarterly “business owners‘ retirement index”, tracking the future expectations of thousands of owner-managers around the country, based on the general business climate and how factors such as current legislation, their tax and pensions position, and the health of their individual sector and region, are influencing their outlook.

Delivery: SVD drafts a questionnaire, analyses the responses and produces national, regional and sector results reports.

Results: A page lead in the Mail on Sunday‘s “enterprise zone” pages plus regular coverage in the Daily Telegraph, a range of sector and online publications and the business pages of major regional newspapers such as the Birmingham Post, Manchester Evening Post and Western Mail.

Bishop Fleming Case Study

Objective: Create a platform for high-profile media coverage, positioning Bishop Fleming as “champions of owner-managed businesses.”

SVD Solution: Negotiate and deliver a twice-yearly “Red Tape Watchdog” survey, tracking the legislation which most affects businesses in the region, and gauging the views of MDs. 

Delivery: SVD drafts a questionnaire, analyses the responses and produces results reports.

Results: A double-page spread in the Western Daily Press, including a web link to details of key legislation introduced six months prior to, and six months following, the publication date.

King Sturge Case Study

Objective: Reinforce King Sturge‘s position as the leading firm of property consultants by cementing relationships with key journalists.

SVD Solution: Arrange an annual media briefing for newspaper, broadcast and trade journalists, providing access to key partners in the Bristol office.

Delivery: SVD drafts full press releases around a series of short “thought leadership” presentations from the partners, which are provided for the journalists in a press pack.  

Results: Widespread coverage in regional and national media. 

Deloitte Case Study

Objective:  create a platform for high-profile media coverage.

SVD Solution:  Negotiate and deliver a no-cost monthly news-survey, “West Business Watch”, to report the views of West boardrooms on regional issues.

Delivery:  SVD identifies each month‘s topic (ranging from regional transport issues to crisis planning), drafts the survey questionnaires, analyses the responses, and produces the results reports.                                        

Results:  A monthly double-page spread in the Western Daily Press, plus wider news-coverage throughout the South West – providing Deloitte with a low-cost domination of monthly business news coverage, out-pacing all other “Big Four” accountancy firms in the South West.

The Consortium Case Study

Objective:  create platforms to take The Consortium‘s UK market leadership in providing product supplies to the educational sector into the care-homes and early-learning sectors.

SVD Solution:  Position The Consortium as a catalyst in thought-leadership in the care-homes and early-years sectors, by arranging sector surveys and joint-venture debates with the sectors‘ leading national trade publications.

Delivery:  SVD forged partnerships with the leading trade publications and associations in both care-home and early-years sectors, researched and drafted survey questionnaires, led panel debates at industry events, and issued the results of those surveys and debates.

Results:   In its first year of serving the care-homes and early-learning sectors, The Consortium has been positioned as a key player in those sectors, with major coverage in the primary sector media, including a feature in the Times Educational Supplement.

 

Cardiff International Airport Case Study

Objective:  Secure community support for Cardiff International Airport‘s Master Plan – in response to the Government‘s White Paper on the future of air transport.

SVD solution:  Do it properly and thoroughly – ensuring entirely open and transparent consultation with all stake-holders.

Delivery:  SVD created a detailed public consultation programme, including a series of public meetings, public-library displays, universal on-line access to the airport‘s Master Plan, media engagement, mailings to all key infuencers, presentations to key opinion-formers, and distribution of the Master Plan to every audience group.

Results:  Cardiff International Airport‘s Master Plan achieved the most positive support of any UK regional airport, with minimal opposition.
